Well I finally feel like I am coming up for air my friends.

The wedding is behind me and we are now preparing for a graduation.

All the hard work and time paid off and in the end it was a beautiful weekend!

The weather was great, the food and cake were delicious, we visited with old friends and family and celebrated LOVE!! It doesn't get much better than that.

The bride and groom were stunning

This picture gets me everytime! They weren't allowed to see each other but only touch. The love between them brought tears to their eyes and mine.

This is one of those moments you want to stop in time..My girl had them play "Mamas song" by Carrie Underwood and requested a dance with me. We cried and soaked up our time together. I love her so much and could not be happier or prouder of them both!

The parents praying a blessing on them and vowing our prayers and support for their marriage.

We did this in lieu of candle lighting or sand. Each of us wrote them a letter encouraging them in their marriage and put it in a box with a letter they wrote to one another.

It was a day we will never forget!

We love them so much and feel extremely blessed to have another son in the family!

Our photographer was outstanding and we have over 1900 pictures to go through on the FIRST Cd.

Whew...how will I ever decide??

Popping In

I just wanted to stop in and say "HI" to all my sweet readers.

I can see a light at the end of this wedding tunnel and we are looking forward to this day with much anticipation!!

In the middle of all this fun we had a senior prom and a bachelorette party...woohoo!!

He took a college girl this year (a good friend) and we had to give him a hard time about it! Did I mention he is counting the days to graduation?!!

They had a wonderful night and I needed a nap the next day after waiting up for him!

Bachelorette party was the next thing on the agenda.

She kept it small with her bridesmaids and their mommas. We spent the night downtown at a very nice hotel, had lunch on the riverwalk, layed out at the pool and went to some fun places that night. We aren't big "party" people but we had a ton of laughs and did get scolded by the hotel for having too much fun and laughing to loud!! It was a night I'm sure she will always remember!

My future son in law graduates tomorrow night with his engineering degree and we are so proud of him! All that hard work has paid off. Another busy night on the schedule...did someone say summer vacation??

I am a little busy over here preparing for this upcoming wedding. Sorry my posts have been few and far between lately. We are three weeks away tomorrow and I can't believe it's almost here!

Tomorrow is my oldest son's last prom and his graduation announcements are ready to be mailed out. This mamma will be on some kind of emotional rollercoaster for the next month or so. It's all good stuff but these milestones are hard on a mom..ugh!

I wanted to share another room I played with while I was at my sis house.

Big Time and Georgia Finds

Hey hey its Friday!!

Hope you have all had a blessed week but can I get an amen for the weekends!

They say everything is bigger in Texas. That would prove true on this find I had to have on my recent trip to Canton. I have this obsession with clocks and numbers so when I spotted this huge (I mean big, girls) clock I was sucked in. It made such a statement and I loved it!! I told the sweet girl I would think about it for awhile and come back if I couldn't forget about it. Well guess what...I couldn't. Probably didn't help that my sis in law had to go back and pick up some other things she bought at the end of the day. They had already packed it up but she said for $40 I could have it. SOLD!!

I plan to put it in my bedroom, just not over the bed. Hubby said if it fell off it would knock one of us out cold..he's so funny!

It's made out of an old table top and distressed. This could easily be made or copied.

Sometimes bigger is better!

I also wanted to share with you two things my sis in law sent back with me that she bought me in Georgia.

They lived in Tennessee and have recently moved back to Texas and I am so happy they are closer but they do have some great shops up there.

Love this cute chippy metal stool. She had it in her kitchen and on the last day she told me to take it home. It was mine all along she just wanted to watch me drool over it for a week.

We are down to the last shower this weekend and WOW this journey has been fun. My daughter informed me that we are on the 30 day countdown now. I think someone is very excited! Ok..that makes two of us!

Laughs and a Room Makeover

Shower number two is in the books and boy was it great fun!

It was a lingerie shower and at the end of the day my jaws hurt so bad from laughing so much.

What a hoot these girls are!!

One more shower to go and then we are on the one month countdown.

I also wanted to share with you another room that I worked on at my sisters house.

This is a guest room so it isn't used much but can be seen from the living room so it needed to look pretty.

I wanted it to have a Ralph Lauren feel to it and think I achieved that look by using several things she owned already.

We are going to replace the ceiling fan in the room on the next visit.

I love how this room feels. So warm and comfortable.

Kitchen Makeover

Happy Wednesday!

It's that time of the year when my boys are so ready to be out of school. Especially my oldest who has some serious senioritis! We are counting down the days till the end. These beautiful days make it even harder but the mom in me wants to slow it all down..(sigh).

While I was away at my sis in laws home last week I did a little redecorating for her. When they bought this house it was only a couple years old and the previous owners had put alot of extras into it that my sis did not appreciate. Very taste specific shall we say?

We're getting there...

New paint, new curtains, new table, new light fixture, new look!!

She was working on painting the baseboards when I left and still needs to find a few more chairs but the transformation is so much better..don't you agree??

Her hubby's dad owned a general store many years ago and he still had this sign and wanted to incorporate it somewhere in the house. Those framed documents are old receipts from that same store. (She is replacing the old frames)

This little corner needed a little light.

We spent a little money on some new chairs, a light fixture, and curtains but tried to use some of what she had on hand. I think its a great improvement and it feels so much cleaner and simpler. When I go back in June we will work on it again..whew!

Great Times

I'm back and boy do I feel like I have been gone forever.

I skipped town about a week ago to spend some time getting my sis in laws house in order.

Flew into Dallas, two day trip to Canton, decorating for three days straight and then a five hour trip home. Birthday celebration with family and Easter Sunday....whew! I need a vacation now!!

I had a wonderful time and we made alot of progress on her house. I will be sharing some before and afters in a few posts later.

We shopped till we dropped in Canton and filled her car to overflowing with so many goodies. One of my very favorite places to visit in Canton is Laurie Anna's Vintage Home. She has the most breathtaking store and the staff is beyond wonderful.

We left a lot of our money here and I look forward to my next trip in June.

Ikea Table and French Towels

I hope that you are all having a great Wednesday.

I had been looking for a sofa table for awhile and couldn't find anything that just tickled me...you know that feeling when you just see something and you know its what you want for your space...you with me??

Well on my last trip to IKEA just before leaving I headed to the "as is" section (you never know what you will find). Well low and behold there she was and in an instant I knew it was exactly what I had been looking for.

The wood is a gray color that resembles the Restoration Hardware color and was marked down because of a small chip on the edge. I love small chips...honestly, I think she had me at cubbies! I would like to add some small locker baskets for storage and on my trip to Canton this weekend I will be looking for some..yay!

I also love their lavender looking plants and brought home a couple for my tables. This one I placed in an old silver pitcher that I already had and it fit perfect!

I love when things work out like that..don't you?!

I also wanted to share some french looking towels that I picked up at an estate sale about a month ago. There was a closet full of linens and I purchased this stack for $2.00. The twine was a little more at $4.00 but I really liked the way it looked.

Have you scored any great deals lately? I would love to know. I am flying out on Friday to Dallas and hope to find a few more fun finds to share with you soon.

Spring is Here

Oh how I love Spring...Next to Fall its my favorite time of the year!

The birds, the flowers, new growth everywhere...LOVE.

Sorry my posts have been almost non existent lately. I have had some unexpected medical stuff come up and have been dealing with doctors and appts for weeks now...not my idea of fun..ugh!!

I have an endoscopy scheduled for next week and would appreciate your prayers. I know my God is in control whatever the results.

In better news, I am also flying up to Dallas next week to spend a week with my sis in law! This I am super excited about. Did I mention she lives only 20 min. from Canton and its First Monday Trade Days?? I know......Woohoo!!

This is supposed to be a working trip for me but we decided two days at Canton would be a nice way to start out the week..don't you agree?!

Hoping to find some goodies and share some pics with you when I return.

My daughter informed me that we only have eight Saturdays until the wedding....8 people!!

Almost every Saturday in April is booked with showers, bachelorette parties (yes I'm going) and pictures. Super exciting stuff!! I think this is my vacation before it starts getting crazy around here..haha!

Well we are loving having some time off from school around here.

Spring Break is here and we are enjoying not having to be anywhere or do much of anything.

The weather is beautiful and I can definately feel spring in the air.

Last Saturday was not the case though...rainy and cold, felt more like winter around here.

We had a beautiful shower for my daughter and the weather did not seem to keep anyone away.

My family traveled here from Austin and many local friends and family showed up to shower our sweet bride with love! We were truly humbled and had a wonderful day filled with laughter, love, and lots of good food.

Bakery Sign

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, it seems life has a way of keeping me very busy these days.

I miss stopping in at all of your blogs and keeping up with the fun things you are creating.

I have not had a lot of time to work on projects myself lately so when hubby was home last week and I mentioned that I would like to have a new sign for my dining room and he said "let's whip one up real quick" I was soooo happy! I ran to get my supplies together before he found something else to work on.

We started with an old board I had in the garage

A friend of mine gave me several of these for future signs...thank you mucho!

Ok..so here is where I will confess that I started this post several days ago and realized all the pics I took for this post were in video form ( I need a camera intervention) Ugggh!

So I will just walk you through the steps and show you the finished project..K??

I used ASCP in Old White and lightly drybrushed

I googled Pottery Barn fonts and typed in the word "Bakery".

Hubby drew the word on the board freehand (yes, he is good like that)

I filled in with black craft paint and used some Old White to shadow the word giving it more definition.

A little distressing and voila!!

Whatcha think??

Notice the pink poms hanging from the ceiling?? No, I haven't gone that crazy yet...I am preparing for a wedding shower at my home for my sweet girl. Don't you just love pink!!

I have had so much fun making it feel so girly and pink for her special day. I look forward to showing you more pics next week!

Pantry Makeover

A little overwhelmed..

Do you ever feel like this?

Whew...a wedding, showers, graduations, pictures, so much on the calendar and it is all starting

to close in on me. I do love it and its very exciting but I spend most of my days trying to figure

out what the next thing is on the list.

Deep breath....

I finally got around to taking some pantry pictures (new battery yay!!).

I did a pantry makeover in our last home and decided why not do it again.

There is something so fun about opening up a pantry door and having some color and labels

staring back at you...sigh!

I know I'm weird but it makes me happy, so why not?!

Here is a before:

I started removing food before painting and remembered I needed to take a before pic..(so bad about forgetting this step)

Here are the afters..

I love to store my snacks in glass jars

It makes it so much easier to see what we have

An old ice cream bucket and white ironstone for a little decor

I am too short to reach the top shelf so why not decorate it!

French Towels

Wow, it's great to be back!

I spent a few days with my sis in law at her home up close to Canton (no Trade Days) picking paint colors and doing a little shopping. I came home long enough to wash some clothes and head out again for a ladies retreat.

What a blessing that was! I love being together with women who love the Lord and growing in my knowledge of his infinite grace.

On our way up to Emory we made a stop at IKEA. I found several things to bring home with me including these cute tea towels.

A steal at only 79 cents!

I had picked up some transfer paper awhile back and used a graphic I found over at The Graphics Fairy.

Follow the instructions remembering to mirror your image on your computer before printing.

Iron on your image and your done!

I added this to a basket I picked up in Canton with some green and hung it in a old picture window.

I love how it turned out!

I finally got caught up on some rest last night. I love girl time but its hard on the sleeping or lack of..

Valentines

Hoping you all had a great Valentines Day!

I must admit I like this special day but don't do any decorating for it or go all out.

I buy the kids and hubby some chocolate and usually get some back.

This year hubby gave me something that I never buy myself and love...Chocolate Covered Strawberries!!

Oh yeah baby!!

Did I mention love??

As you can see I wasted no time consuming them..ok I ate them all at once!

Yummo!

Both of my boys were not feeling very well this last week. One is struggling with allergies and the other had a twenty four hour stomach bug..yuck!

I think we are on the road to recovery now. I hate when my kids are sick.

I ran the younger one to the Dr. to make sure their was no ear infection and when I returned my older son surprised me with a dozen red roses!!

I was so surprised and wanted to cry at his sweet heart for his mama!

It's times like this you say to yourself.."I guess I'm doing something right"!

I love my kids and they always make me feel like the best mom in the world! (I know I'm not)

I hope that you all had a special Valentines Day with your hubby and kiddos too!

I started another pantry makeover that I will share soon and I'm headed up to Canton next week with my SIL! They recently bought a house up their (can you say giddy)! Hoping to find some treasures I can share with you. I see many a trip in my future!

An Old Soap Box

Hope your all having a great hump day!

I have had this old box for several years sitting around.

It has held magazines, plants on the back porch and even shoes.

I picked up a couple sets of old casters at an estate sale several months back and they have sat in the garage waiting to be used on a project.

This was the project.

Hubby attached them to this old soap box with screws and voila.

Of course I couldn't leave it like this so I added some white paint by drybrushing it on the box.

You can actually see the Soap logo better.

We found a beautiful plant at Home Depot last week and added it to the box and set it in a corner that needed a little something. It's perfect because its right next to a window and can get plenty of filtered light.

I big change for just a little change...The plant was $10 and the casters were $2 for the set.

Not bad for $12

Tale of Two Tables

Happy Monday morning to ya'll!!

Hoping you all had a great weekend..did you watch the Super Bowl?

Me either..I was too busy checking out your blogs and Pinterest (addicted..yes)!

Last week after a trip to the dentist (yuck), the hubs and I did a little thrifting.

Yes, he likes it too. Its a good thing we'll need something to do after the kids are gone.

I found these two tables waiting to go home with me.

It's amazing what a can of paint can do for a piece of furniture, isn't it?

Used some Old White on the smaller one and Black paint that I had in my stash.

Not rocket science here..

Don't they look better?

The white one has been sold and is moving on to a new home.

The black one is still for sale and will be going to the shop this week.

Any local takers??

I also found some beautiful worn ironstone for my collection.

It was a great day thrifting...the dentist, not so much!

Table Talk

Good Thursday morning!

It's so dreary out it makes me want to crawl back under the covers.

Sorry I have been missing this week, no excuse really except for the day to day routine of running a home.

I have been working on this table and chairs for what seems like for-eva!

I bought it from a friend of mine and it sat in my garage collecting dust and waiting for a little lovin from me.

This is a solid wood set! Heavy and well made.

I love the backs on these chairs, they don't make them like this anymore.

Do you see the dust? I had my work cut out for me.

The best part was that at some point someone was going to refinish this so almost every bit of sanding was done for me..can I get a woohoo?!

This is halfway finished with the table stained.

I painted the chairs and the base of the table with a Behr paint (w/the primer) love this stuff!!

Used a walnut stain on top and finished with wax.

Sorry I could not get a great pic in the garage and this little beauty is too heavy to move!

I have already sold this set and she moves on to her new home this weekend.

Time for the next project..

I know you get that!

A Desk for the Shop

Good morning!

I found this small desk at one of my favorite antique stores a few weeks ago.

I loved how small and cute it was and knew with a little paint she could be even sweeter.

Here she is in her before state..

Pretty rough but lots of potential!

It has a small drawer on one side so it would even work as a small side table.

A little paint and she is as good as new..

I took it to the shop where she is waiting to be taken home and dressed up.

Speaking of shop..I took a few pics of my space to share with you..

I have been painting chairs and table for days now and my arm is killing me.

I will share that soon.

Who knew painting could be so painful!

PB Cubbies..Update

It's a gorgeous Saturday here girls, hope your enjoying your weekend!!

The labels arrived this week and it took me all about twenty minutes to get them out of the bag.

I was super excited to see how they were going to look on my cubbies.

I tried to find something as close as I could to the Pottery Barn inspired cubbies and think I found a pretty good match.

Light Fixture/ Lantern

So when I saw this lantern at Goodwill I knew it needed to come home with me!

It was a mere $7..oh yeah!

It still had the glass and wiring

Hubby removed both and I added some candles

I hung it from a hook I already had

I love it!

In the future it might receive a coat of paint but for now I love the iron look.

Pottery Barn Inspired Cubbies

I have finally finished it (almost)!!

Finished what?? you ask??

I found this beauty in a garage at an estate sale, piled with treasures and some critter droppings..ewww

No tag (apparently some people don't do critter droppings)

I asked the man in charge if it was for sale and he told me to make him an offer.

Ugghhh...I don't like doing that in fear of insulting anyone..

but before I could answer he said $20..I told him $15 and it was a deal (so much for insulting)

He agreed and we loaded it up!!

$15 dollars ya'll!!!!

I had big plans for this purdy thing...

It has taken several months but I have almost finished it!

I say almost because I am waiting on the label holders to get here and then it will be DONE!

I couldn't wait so I thought I would go ahead and show you...eek!

Sheet Music Drawer

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

We celebrated two birthdays this weekend and I can honestly say I am tired of eating out for awhile.

They seem to fly by so fast when your busy!

One of the things I picked up at an estate sale several months back was an old drawer from a desk.

I added sheet music with a little Modge Podge to the inside for a little visual interest

My plan was to take it to the shop but it found a home on my coffee table with my glass cloche and mercury candlestick

The drawer cost me $1.50

Sheet music was free

Cheap project with a big impact!

It's almost Friday girls..yippee!

I hope to be working on a project this weekend that is a long time overdue. Can't wait to show you as soon as I have it completed.

I first want to say that I went to the grocery store tonight (for groceries) and picked up these yummy pecan tarts in the bakery. OH MY..

Seriously, someone stop me!!

I have eaten three from this box already and I may have had some as a side at dinner.

I had these two small lamps in the garage and wasn't fond of their red shades and gold base.

Yes, I always take pictures in the dark in the garage..you?

I removed the fabric from the shade leaving only the metal frame to play with, painted these babies with some Heirloom white, added some burlap...

Not sure about the burlap yet..could be a fire hazard

And some tulle..

So feminine and girly.

I need a little extra light in my booth and I think these will work perfect and won't take up too much space.

I love reusing things when I can, don't you?
