Vintage Linen Pillows

I hope that you are all having a wonderful weekend!!
I had a great time last night going to have dinner and seeing a movie with a couple of my girlfriends. Don't you just love girl time, laughing and talking and sharing stories. It makes my heart happy!

I enjoyed a quiet morning at home which doesn't happen often and wanted to get a project done. Hmm what to do??

On a recent trip to goodwill I had picked up a package of vintage linen napkins. Some had a small monogram and others were plain. They were a steal at 99 cents for about 20. I tell ya, I can't believe what people get rid of!
I must have this thing for napkins because I have a stack of different ones in a drawer in my kitchen. What to do with all of them??
How about make some pillows?
I have several old pillows in the closet (told you I have a thing for pillows) and I decided to use the forms and just make new covers for them. I had also grabbed four napkins on a recent trip to PB outlet (1.25 ea) and thought they would look great on my bed with my new euro pillows.
Pulled out the sewing machine and went to town. Granted I am not the best seamstress but I am happy with how they turned out!

Linen and PB napkins found for a steal

pillow form

I put a 2 inch hem around the pillow to make a border

White linen napkins..now a pillow!

This pillow I wanted a border so I sewed inside the white area

This pillow I sewed without the border and left a little linen showing

Happy!!
Do you have any old linens or napkins you can turn into pillows? For $6.00 I have 3 new pillows and several more to make!! Happy sewing...or fusing..whatever works for you!
Love you girls!

"New" Looks

It's a New Year girls!! I know you know that but with a New Year comes new possibilities and new adventures. We started a new journey last week looking for a new church home. We had been feeling God calling us out for awhile and a few weeks ago took heed to that call. It will be a journey in the wilderness but we know that if God called us out he will provide a place for us. I am looking forward to this with much excitement and peace!

New Year...new hairdo! I cut my hair off into a shorter Jenny McCarthy kinda look. I am loving the new do and it's so much easier to take care of. Maybe I will post some pics soon. I get a little freaked out about posting a big pic of myself on here. Does anyone else feel that way?

Sooo..remember several posts back when I showed you my finds around Christmas from Pottery Barn. Well two weeks ago I decided to make some curtains for my kitchen windows to replace the ones that were there. I loved the old ones (thanks Mom) but just wanted a new look..cause that's how I roll!!
Anywho, I had just enough to make 4 panels..nothing fancy but it was such nice material and I did it right. Taking my time, ironing, pinning, ironing....you get the idea. I am loving the new look and for $8.00 for all of them...SCORE!

This beauty I found while shopping for a client at PB..she was only $30..loove!

Remember way back when I told you about the Pottery Barn curtain I found at Goodwill and the other at PB, well I finally got around to hanging those too. I know it's been like fu-eva (you have to say it like that)! I'm not usually a procrastinator but I just wasn't feeling in the curtain hanging mood. Well they are done now, and here is how they look...

Hubby bought me the pillow on an outing to Pottery Barn...love him!

Picked these up at TJ Maxx..tan pin stripes with a ruffle..sigh..

I see the red feet..yeah probably needs a paint job..on the list!

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

Pantry Makeover

The weather was beautiful here today! After being busy all week it was nice to just piddle around the house and have nowhere to be.

Well what's a girl to do on an open Saturday..hmmm..how about organize the pantry and put that Cricut to use! I have been inspired by so many blogs out there to organize my pantry and even though it wasn't a wreck it was fun to make it feel a little more organized.

I found a cute little window at the thrift store for 25 cents and had no idea what I was gonna do with it. After cleaning the pantry, it came to me...a cute little MARKET sign using my handy dandy CriCut. I hung it from the ceiling for a little whimsy and added a colorful picture to brighten up the tan..love it!! So small..but so fun!
I may have gone a little crazy with the labels..but everytime I look in there it makes me SMILE!

Tonight at dinner my son was praying and he said "Lord thank you for a mom that is so creative and likes to make our house feel so much like a home."
MELT MY HEART!! I love that boy!!
Here are some before pics..(gold paint..gone)

                                                   After...

I plan on getting some glass jars to replace those cereal boxes but I am loving it!!

Now let's just hope that everyone puts things back..
What have you organized lately??
I also worked on some new curtains a few weeks ago and I am really happy how they turned out. I will do another post on those next week..
Hope your spending your Sunday with family and praising our Lord..I am!!
Love you to pieces!

Trash and a CriCut

Well it has been a busy week over here but it's almost Friday..yeah!!

Last night I was taking one of my boys to youth and I spotted a cute little treasure out by someones trash...isn't  it amazing what people will throw away? Oh well you know what they say.."One man's trash....well you know the saying.
Anywho, I told myself if it was there on my way back I was going to pick it up and throw it in the car before anyone saw me..It was there and I made my son load it up.
I know you think I'm crazy..who doesn't?

I am hoping to make something kinda fun with it as soon as the weather gets a little warmer..it's cold here in Texas!

I am thinking for a childs room or maybe a fun idea for a mud room..who knows?? I want to remove the legs and paint the wood..
Any ideas?? Hmm..

I forgot to tell you I got a Cricut for Christmas (say that 10 times fast)! This little machine is fun and I am still trying to figure out all her features and I am already looking at different cartridges for fun projects. I can tell this could get expensive! Fun stuff!

Tomorrow I will be moving furniture and displaying pretties and I can't wait to share some pics with you!

Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog and leave a comment, I love hearing from you!!
Hoping your weekend is warm and pretty!!

A Cowboy in the Makin'

It has been one of those weeks..the kind where it seems like everything is going wrong at once! Weeks like that just wear me out..ugh!
Today was a better day, even though the weather here is rainy and cold I got a chance to work on a really CUTE COWBOY themed room! I don't get a chance to do many kids rooms anymore since my three are in the teen and 20 year range so I jumped at the chance to make this little buckaroos room feel like something out of the WILD WEST!

I just love sock monkeys!

The colors are so pretty in here..sorry the pic. doesn't do it justice

A place for books for story time..

All the bedding, wall decor, table and lamp and some buckets for toys (sorry didn't get a pic)

I hope you enjoy your new COWBOY room Luke!

I hope you all have a wonderful and warm weekend. It's cold here..even for the south! Brrr....

Celebrating

Isn't it amazing how fast time flies these days! It seems like one minute your kids are making their way through high school and the next they have been out for several years. This weekend we celebrated my future son-in-laws birthday with his sweet family. We grabbed a bite to eat then went back to his parents house for chocolate cake..yummy! I adore this sweet family and feel so incredibly blessed to have them as part of our lives!
Cory has been part of our family for 5 years now (I know crazy)! He and my daughter met when she was a freshman in high school and she has not dated anyone else since! They are high school sweethearts! I could not have picked a better young man to call my "son" and love my daughter. Cory from all of us, WE LOVE YOU and wish you the happiest 22nd birthday ever!!

The happy couple
Cory and his momma

Such a sweet person..Love her!

Happy Birthday Cory!! May all your dreams come true!!!

Letting Go

"Letting go"..at first when I look at these two words together they stir up emotions in me that are hard to digest. Trying to find some rhyme or reason to why we must do this is not an easy task. Yet we all know at some point this is a part of life. I have seen the phrase "Let Go and Let God" a number or times and thought "wow" is it really that easy? My answer..NO!
I struggle with letting go of control because things feel so chaotic to me. This is hard to admit because its one of my weaknesses but one I am trying to give up this year. Letting go of a friendship, a loved one, our comfort zone, control, these are a few of the ones that scare me to death! I believe that God wants us to let go so that he can do a mighty work in our lives, far more than we ever expected. Besides my control will not change anything.
It's been a hard week this week..No I haven't lost anyone but have had to deal with the "letting go" of something that was important to me. I don't know why, but trust that the Lord will make it right in his time.  Sometimes letting go is a part of life, I realize that, putting it into practice is even harder.
Have a wonderful weekend!
If you have time leave a comment..I love to hear from you!!

A Good Start

Happy New Year! I hope that your New Year has started off with a bang. Mine was pretty quiet as we all stayed home, ate, and played some games. It was just like I like it!!

The kids went back to school today and hubby went to have new tires put on the car. Love him for that! My love language is acts of service so doing these small things really makes me happy..happy!!
I had a few things that I wanted to get accomplished today.Things like clean the closet, rearrange the furniture, a couple of loads of laundry and something yummy for dinner.  Well I got a little late start ( Hi my name is Tiffani and I have a blogging addiction..) but once I got going I was on a roll!

I went through the closet like a crazy person, listed a few purses for sale, filled a goodwill sack and a sack to try and sell!  I vacuumed (huge dust bunnies) and reorganized everything. Ahhh it feels so good. I took a break for lunch (again with the blogging addiction) but I figure if your gonna stop to eat you might as well be looking at something pretty right??

I have been wanting to paint my living room for awhile, and almost put off rearranging until I got that done....but once I moved that first piece of furniture, it was all over..I am loooving the new look!
I finished 2 loads of laundry, hubby returned with new tires (love) and I made a spinach and shrimp with pasta dinner and I am pooped...
I love days when I get so much done but it doesn't happen that often. So as I ring in the New Year I feel I have gotten a pretty good start. The rest of the week is shaping up to be pretty busy with work..not that I am complaining..work is good!

I have so many things I would like to get accomplished this 2011 but the most important thing on my list is to spend more time in prayer and studying God's word. What better way to start than with a Bible Study.
How about you? What are your goals for the New Year? I look forward to the plans he has for me in 2011!1 Have a wonderful day!
