A Great Find...or Two

I am loving our Texas weather!!
It makes me want to be outside and it gets my creative juices flowing...is that weird?
I had a chance to hit a thrift store or two last week and found a couple of things I thought were fun and knew I could do something creative with them.
Remember my old door I turned into a hall tree..if you don't go check it out!
Well, it needed something on top, I wasn't digging the basket.
I found this darling old metal basket and knew it would be perfect up there.
Whatcha think??

I added some mason jars I found at a garage sale for $1.00 and a tag I made on the computer.
I have been drawn to metal baskets lately..I love them!
These jars would be cute with some sunflowers in them..my favorite!

On a different thrift I found some beautiful old GLASS knobs. These things are heavy girls! I was so excited when I saw these and I couldn't believe they were only $1.00 (true story) for 10 knobs!! I brought them home and put them on a dresser in my living room to dress it up a bit! I love it!! The extra's I will save for a project for my next show.

Whatcha think?? Do you plan on thrifting this weekend?
If so, I would love to hear what you find!

Have a beautiful day!!

Moss Letter and Lillies

Hey girls, I hope you all had a wonderful Resurrection Sunday!

My sis-in-law surprised me and showed up here on Easter with my inlaws and brought me these!

I love her! She knows me..I would have picked white also!!

No, she did not make the trip just for me. Her mom had knee surgery yesterday and everything went well! We did get a chance on Monday to slip away for a day of shopping and she treated me to a pedicure!! I never take the time to do this for myself or I can always find something else to spend my money on..anybody else like that??
We just sat and talked and took our time.. It was fabulous!!
The rest of the day was spent shopping at one of my favorite places..PB Outlet!
I found a couple things..I know shocking!

This cute old crate and some clear oil bottles that I will probably add labels to and use for shampoo bottles in my bathroom.

I also noticed in the PB catalog these moss letters (way to expensive) and thought I could copy them much cheaper, so while in Hobby Lobby I picked up a few supplies to make my own.

I grabbed some moss, a letter for my last name and some pretty ribbon.
I used regular ole Elmers to glue it to the letter and that was it.

This was a messy project but I looove how it turned out!

I can't believe it is already Wednesday, the days seem to fly by and summer is on its way! My kids remind me of this often.
I pray your week is blessed and you are inspired to do something creative!

I would love to hear from you!

First Fruits and Sermon Notes

Hello my friends!
Wow, it has been hot here for the past couple of days and it's only April..not a good sign!
One of the best things about all this heat is that my garden is loving it!
I picked my first fruits (vegetables actually) this week.

There are more to be had..It looks like I will have an abundance of squash this year.

Are you a note taker?? I am. I usually fumble for paper during church and try to catch as many scripture verses and notes as I can and then stash them in my Bible for later reference. A friend of mine uses a three ring binder for all her notes and I decided it was time to have somewhere I could keep them all together and take them with me.
I didn't want to spend any money so I went digging for something to make work.
I found this composition book and knew with a little creativity it would make the perfect place to store my nuggets of wisdom.

Compostion book, scrapbook paper, old hymnal music, stickers and modge podge
Sorry I did not take pics of the steps.
Use the book as your template and trace it out on the scrapbook paper. Modge Podge it to the book and embellish with stickers and sheet music. It's that simple!

I can keep all my notes in one place and don't have to worry about them falling out of my Bible.
I take about two pages of notes every Sunday. Soaking up God's Word every week!

As we enter the Easter weekend I pray that you remember it's not about the bunnies and the eggs but about Christ's love for us and his promise to his children. That as believers we have HOPE because of HIS RESURRECTION and FAITH in his return!
And that my friends, is greater than any chocolate rabbit I have ever had!

Have a Blessed Weekend!
I love you all!

Small Spaces..Part Two

Back to back posts.. I know, I'm crazy like that!
Ha!!
Today as I was cleaning up, I grabbed the box that I had found on a recent junking trip..do you remember which one??
Yes..this one..

I yelled to hubby " I have an idea"...not sure he's crazy about that comment yet!
Anywho....long story short... my idea WORKED!!

I decided the hall tree needed a little shelf!

Isn't she prettier?
You can check out the before in my previous post!
There was no cutting involved in this project, the box fit perfectly..like it was meant to be!!
I love when that happens!
I DID have to paint it though..
I hope you are inspired to think outside of the box this week...Ha..get it??

I have joined the party over at My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia!

Small Spaces

I hope you girls are having a wonderful weekend!
The weather is just about perfect here in my neck of the woods. Remember that old door I showed you a few posts back?? I had several different ideas and wasn't sure which one to settle on until I started moving some furniture around to make room for my new buffet! Loving it by the way..
I had a small white table that needed a new home and would you believe it fit right against this old door..perfectly!
I had hubby attach two brackets to make sure it would be stable and now I have a hall tree in this small space right inside my front door. I love it when things work out like that..don't you??

I am thinking of adding a cubby at the top to hold a basket..what do you think??
I love to hear from you..talk to me girls!

Buffet Makeover..Finally!!

Well girls, I finally had a chance to get my free buffet (found in the trash) completed!
Yeah!!!
I had been waiting on the chalk paint I had ordered and after a few minor glitches it
finally made it here! I will be honest and say at first I was not sure about this product but
I wanted to give it a fair chance. It goes on very flat, almost like a primer with a different texture.
I had also never used wax before and that is definately a new favorite product!!
After two coats of chalk paint, coat of wax, sanding, and another small coat of wax she is finished..whew!
I moved her in last night and put her in the dining room. I had to do a little rearranging (oh darn) to
fit her but I do love how she turned out.
Wanna see...?? Ok, ok..here she is..

After

Well..what do ya think?? I love all the details the paint brought out and I distressed heavily in some areas. I'm still not feeling the red paint on the walls.. did I mention these ceilings are 20 feet high?? Scaffolding would be required to get it painted..ugh!!

I can't wait to show you what I did with the old door I scored last week!!
Come back and check it out!

Old Stuff New Finds

Hey girlies..sorry I have been MIA. Wedding plans, new cars for new drivers (prayers please), school stuff..well you know the drill.. I had a chance to get out and do some thrifting and junking this week and I found some really fun things! Some I will keep and others I will sell.

I found this darling little cart that I put on my back porch. I also found the pots, the yellow one is old and the smaller ones inside have Italy on the inside, I am loving their patina. The cute little crate was so cheap I had to pick it up and will probably show up in my next sale.

I have been working on my back porch area. I used two king size pillow cases (I had) to cover the old cushion..have you seen the price of these things new?? Yikes!

I love these old light fixtures and for 1.99 I think it will look great in my laundry room redo (coming soon to a blog near you) Don't you love all the garage junk in the background?

Loved this old drawer..may turn up in a sale with a new life??

Loving this old door..so many ideas for this one but you will have to wait and see..
The piece of chippy paint wood is going to be a new sign..it will also be for sale!

I am expecting my new paint anyday now and can't wait to get started on my buffet. I did an older post on it showing you that someone had thrown it away..still can't believe that..but, she's about to get new life!!

The days here have been so beautiful lately and I see God's glory all around me! I hope you take the time to take it all in..He is sooo good!!

Sugar Sack Pillow

I have a love for pillows!! Some girls like shoes..I like pillows. I have seen many grain sack or burlap pillows around blogland and drool over them all. I love the look of a lace/burlap pillow. On a recent trip to Round Top I scored an old sugar sack from a vendor. He let me have it for $5.00 and I knew exactly what I was going to use it for.

After a good washing in bleach it was ready to be cut and sewn.

I cut off part of the bottom so the pillow would be centered on the logo

Used an older pillow as the form. Sewed the end and stuffed it in. I'm sure you don't need a tutorial on making a pillow cover..Easy Peazy!!

Is there such a thing as too many pillows?? I think not...
Have a blessed Monday!
