Revisiting the Master Bedroom

Hey ya'll!
(its a Texas thing)
Hope you have had a wonderful week. Its crazy how fast time flies between blog postings. I would love to be able to post more often but life seems to get in the way of that.
We had a shower for my sweet girl this past weekend and everything turned out so cute! I will share the pics with you soon. She is 7 weeks away and we are getting very excited over here on the "honey" (grandma) front.

I had a chance to snap a few pictures of my master bedroom after changing a few things around. No cost but a different look..yep my kind of makeover.

Shower #2 is this weekend. I will be back to share pictures from both with all of you soon.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and visit my little ole' blog. I appreciate all the comments you sweet people send me.
Have a blessed week!

Mantel Makeover..Going White

Am I the only one that is ready for the weekend?
This week seemed a little long for me so I am ready to relax and spend some time with the family.

I have had this project done for awhile and I am just now getting around to sharing it with you. When we moved into our new home over a year ago I knew it was just a matter of time before I pulled out the  paintbrush and gave this mantel a makeover. Don't get me wrong, its a beautiful mantel but with so much stained wood in the house it seemed a little heavy.

I know some of you "wood"  people out there are cringing right now..sorry!
Every home we have been in has always had a dark wood mantel. It was time for something different.

Oh yeah..so much better!
I must admit I was a little nervous painting something that was permanent instead of something I could just move out of the house if I got tired of it but the end result was well worth the risk I took.

How about you, do you take risks with cabinets and mantels and "permanent pieces"?
I'm about to take a very big risk on a larger scale and paint my kitchen cabinets in a few weeks..deep breaths..Can't wait to share it with you!

Have a beautiful weekend!

Boys Room Number Two

How was your weekend?
Mine was quiet but I got a chance to work around the house and that is always a plus in my book.

After I got my younger sons room finished I thought my older sons room needed a little refreshing. Isn't that how it goes, you start one room and that leads to another and another...well you get it. This is my college students room and truth be known he's never here so I just wanted to give it a little more warmth but still keep a masculine feel on a budget of course.
The only purchases for this room were the curtains and the clock. Everything else were things I had on hand.

Sorry no before pics..

The doors lead out to a small atrium that is never used so I hung curtains to bring some warmth and pattern to the room. The old shutters I distressed with some Old White ASCP  and propped behind the dresser. My son is a huge music lover and his albums fit perfect in the slats of the shutters.

More framed album covers

The dresser was a $40 find. I painted it a flat black and replaced the hardware with brass knobs (Hobby Lobby).
Curtains from Target

Sorry I thought I had more pics but can't find them. You get the idea though...

Have you been busy with projects? I'm a little addicted now and keep moving around the house.

Have a beautiful Monday!
