Pinterest Inspired Project

Do you Pinterest?

I think you would have to be hiding under a rock for awhile if you haven't heard of this addicting, fun and creative site. I have been inspired and awed by so many of your projects!
You can check out my Pinterest boards here.

One of my very favorite projects is this adorable door with a light fixture and shelves.

As soon as I saw this I knew I wanted this in my bedroom.

I used a door I already had in the garage.

The light fixture (purchased at Lowe's) was wired for a wall mount so hubby and I had to convert it to a plug in. After talking to the guy at Lowes we decided to use a extension cord we already had (saving money). We cut it and joined the wires, covered with those small orange caps and some electrical tape and plugged it in...IT WORKED!
We drilled a small hole in the door to run the wire through and attached it to the door with some screws. That was it!
(sorry no pics of the process but you get the idea..right?)

Here it is all finished..

I added a shelf and accessories I already had..bringing the cost to $25.
(for the light fixture of course)

Yep, I love how it turned out!!

Have you been inspired by Pinterest projects? Are you addicted to the creative ideas?

I love the shelf. Where did you get it? It adds such a great texture to the whole piece. Love love love it.

Does the door hang on the wall?

  7. I love it! I'm wondering if it hangs or leans or what too? It seems like it would have to lean at quite an angle since the shelf and accessories would make it tip wouldn't they?! I have an old door that I'm eyeballing right now!! :o)

  9. Can you do a post about how this is (or isn't) mounted to the wall? I'd also like to see the wiring (for the lamp) from the back. Does it have a box in the wall right there, or does it have a cord running to an outlet somewhere close?
