A New/Old Mirror

Well hello my friends!
Summer is here and things have slowed down for me....NOT!  My daughter is now married, my son is away at camp working and my youngest is on vacation with his grandparents in New Mexico. You would think I have a little more time to myself but I have been working and house sitting and trying to get caught up on some projects. Do you ever feel like you're just going in circles and not getting a lot finished?? No, just me..ok..moving on.

I found this old mirror at a barn sale last month and it has sat in my garage since that day. Today I pulled it out and added some wire and hung it up next to my cubbies. I am loving the way it looks! A little old, vintage and worn. I thought about painting it white but I love the natural chippy look of it so I think it will stay this way for now.

I love the beveled mirror and old wood together.

The cubbies are going to be moving to another space in my home and shelves are going up above my buffet soon. Looking to use something different for shelves..shutters, old door, etc.
Stay tuned..

Thanks for stopping in, hope your summer is going great!

Summer Salsa

This time of the year my mother in law's garden is exploding with so many veggies. We had a garden at our last home but since downsizing we haven't had the time to make our own. I always enjoy getting fresh ripe tomatoes and jalapenos from her. I save a few for sandwiches and tacos but the majority of them I use to make a summer salsa.

Homegrown tomatoes taste so much better than store bought..wouldn't you agree?

I use about 10-12 tomatoes
2 jalapenos
1 onion
1/2 bunch of cilantro
lemon juice
garlic powder
salt and pepper

I cut all my ingredients into smaller portions and use a chopper to reduce it to smaller pieces. Add salt and pepper to taste and enjoy with some tortilla chips or as a garnish on chicken or fish. YUM! This makes about a jar and a half for me. I would love to can it someday but it just doesn't last that long in our house.

Let the summer grilling, tortilla chip eating begin!

Do you have a recipe that you make every summer?

Have a beautiful sunny week. I will be spending mine on the golf course with my youngest. HOT!
