FALL INSPIRATION

Tin buckets found at TJ Maxx filled with rice and insert candles. Set a plant atop a cake stand and add some candy corn for a fall table setting.

An Old Wooden Dough Bowl with a lantern and some fall colored pumpkins and berries

Isn't this fun, add some candy corn, nuts, or black beans for fillers in your candle lanterns or candle centerpieces. Looks great at night all lit up!

A black urn on the porch with some pumpkins and garland. The sign was made for me years ago. Doesn't this say Welcome Fall!!

This cute fall banner was made with scrap burlap and stenciled with black paint and put together with jute. You can create different ones for different seasons

Some old books wrapped with ribbon and add some fall leaves. Fill a candle holder with pumpins and add a candle.
Fall decorating doesn't have to be expensive. Use what you have, change it around and add some color. Little touches is all it takes to make your home ready for fall. Now grab a cup of coffee, light a candle, open a window and enjoy these days before they change..

I Choose Love!

It seems like months ago I was starting my family and the years have somehow flown by! Where do they go I ask ya?? I remember holding these babies in my arms and thinking "I could do this for the rest of my life". Guess what I have... In the beginning it was easy when their needs were so small and the biggest worry was when to feed them and put them to bed.

As they have grown the needs have become greater and the time I spend praying for them seems to weigh more heavily on my heart. Love always seems easy in the beginning doesn't it?? Anything but a choice, it costs us little and brings much satisfaction. Other times choosing love means choosing to open our hearts to hurt and rejection.  I am so thankful for a God that loves me! He did have a choice, and he chose LOVE!  1John 4:19 says "We love because he first loved us."

I know the days ahead will be filled with their own challenges and triumphs but even in the midst of all that the world will throw at me.... I still choose LOVE!!
Crazy kids!

She will hate this picture!!

How did this happen?? Overnight it seems..

My youngest baby!

Sports are LIFE! No Kidding.

Running The Race

Good evening lovelies!! It's been a very wet and dreary weekend here. I am thankful for the rain but after a while I seem to get a little cabin fever. We did make it out this Saturday to see my oldest son run in a Cross Country meet and it was messy!! I woke up and knew that it was going to be a cap day..which means I don't have to do the hair!! YEAH! Turns out that was a good choice.??

The boys did so well and in the end went home with the first place trophy!! Yippee!! I love to watch the endurance and the perseverance as they cross that finish line but I'm not gonna lie, it tires me out! Isn't life so much like that? We train, we run, we endure, we persevere and sometimes it's just plain hard! Shoot who am I kidding..alot of times it's just plain hard. I am reminded in Hebrews 12:1 to run with PERSEVERANCE the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning it's shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. I love that!! I pray that I may finish this race called "life" with much perseverance so that in HIS time I will receive my trophy!!

 Have a blessed Monday!!

My Garage Sale Chairs

Last fall I was out junking (yes I said last fall) and these two chairs caught my eye. The lady told me to make her an offer if I was interested and I offered her $5.00 a chair and SHE TOOK IT! (Birds singing...)  These are solid wood chairs and very heavy but obviously in need of a serious makeover. I saw the potential in these babies right away. But they sat in my garage for a year and last week I pulled those babies out and gave em' a little makeover.....drum roll please...!!!

Ta-dah!!!  They have a set very similar in the Pottery Barn catalog! Pillow is from Pottery Barn! Now go get your paint on!

Sunflowers and a Sneak Peek

Aren't they gorgeous!! So I was at the store today doing my shopping when I look over and these gorgeous sunflowers start yelling my name!! What? They were...so I ran, literally ran over and grabbed me a bunch and put them in my basket. Oh happy day..the things that make me happy. Don't fresh flowers just brighten up a room?

I was once asked why sunflowers are my favorite? They are " just a weed "you know. My response was " yes I know" and isn't it AWESOME how God takes "just a weed" and makes it into something so beautiful!! I love that he is a God of color and beauty, don't you??  What about you do you have a favorite flower (or weed) that makes you smile?

Well as promised here are a few things I will be selling at THE BARN CHICKS show in November..if you would like more info. go to my sidebar and check it out. She will also be hosting small peeks into the vendors and their goodies for the upcoming show. Just a peek..I can't show you everything..!! I'M SO EXCITED! I hope your coming....

Seasons of Change

I love the change of the seasons..even though here in the South it takes forever. It's still so hot here, but I know a change is a comin'. I've been thinking a lot lately about relationships and friendships and how they seem to only last for a season sometimes. My high school friends are dear to my heart, but things like time and distance and the everyday busyness has kept us away from each other (how sad is that). When I was a young mom those relationships fulfilled a purpose for me in my need to have some adult communication..ugh I could not wait for that time to be with other moms!! Can I get an Amen from the mommas?? As my kids get older and they start to spread their wings and fly, I find myself longing for those deep relationships even more! What I don't always realize is that what I want and what another person wants in a friendship are not always the same. Sometimes I tend to change in what I need out of a friend as I mature and grow. I don't need someone to agree with me..just listen, a really good hug now and then, a phone call just to say how's it going and someone to REALLY laugh with! You know..the good belly laughs!! Nothin feels better.. I was reminded today by God that I do always have a friend in him! I want to grow oak tree friendships not toadstool friendships. Time, vulnerability, availability these are the things that fertilize and grow a friendship. I know that some of each are healthy but at this point in my life I want to strive for the oak tree friendships and dig in with my roots before the season starts to change! How about you? Are you craving oak tree friendships or are you satisfied with your toadstools?? Come on FALL!!
