A Book Wreath

Okay I have wanted to make one of these book wreaths for awhile now and this last weekend I finally did it! Yeah me!! I have seen these all over blog land and a friend of mine made one so I thought I would give it a try. I really like how it turned out and I'm not a big crafter but this really looked easy and pretty.

If you have made one of these and are thinking that was so yesterday then sorry but I'm a little slow getting started on this whole craft thing. I love to decorate but crafting is a little different for me..anywho..

So here we go:

You will need:
Glue or glue gun (I used Elmers)
Old book (I used an old hymnal i found thrifting for free)
Scissors
Glitter (I used some white I had)
Spray adhesive (I used a clear coat spray paint)
Round base or styrofoam ring (I used an old fall candle ring)
Total cost: FREE (I already had everything) I love using what I have!!

Supplies

A plastic ring. Wrap your book sheets and wrap ends around the ring and glue

Continue working your way around until you fill it up

Y
I did about 4 layers until it looked full. I sprayed with adhesive and sprinkled glitter on (I know it's hard to see)

Finished..ta dah!! I like how it turned out!
There are so many variations of this same project so just have fun and be creative!! Thanks Amy for the inspiration!! I will try the white one next..I'll let you know how that one turns out soon. Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Thanksgiving..A Change

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day with family and friends! I, like everyone else, probably ate too much. I am looking forward to the leftovers today..anybody with me?

My Thanksgiving this year took a little turn and at the last minute (literally the day before) I was going to be hosting in my home! My grandmother had to go into the hospital and my mom left to be with her. Honestly, we were worried that it wasn't going to turn out well, but God is good people! We started praying for her and her sudden surgery and she came through it great! The doctor released her the very next afternoon (i know) and she was able to be with her all children and some other family for Thanksgiving dinner this year. Praise you Lord!

I missed my momma being here and hosting and cooking but God wanted her to be with her mom this Thanksgiving! He always knows doesn't he, and continues to amaze me with his provision and his timing!

I am so thankful every day and every year for the many blessings that he bestows on my family but this year I am so ever thankful that my grandma got to be with her family this year.

Meanwhile back at the ranch (not really):

All the food turned out great and my inlaws joined US for a change this year. My brother in law and sister in law were not able to get here so we invited them for one big Thanksgiving..why not were doing "change" this year!! I love them so much and was so thankful to have them at our table giving thanks.

And lastly I am so thankful for you my friends and for all the blessings you bring to my life sometimes even in the midst of "change"!

Last minute set up for a Thanksgiving meal

My daughter with her fiance, my dad, my sis in law and niece

My hubby and me (yes I have the tree up already)

Thankful!!
I think I may go out this afternoon and brave this crazy shopping day..anybody with me??

I Feel a Wedding Coming On

My daughter and I spent yesterday trying on her wedding dress and doing some shopping together! I love spending time with her and with her busy schedule (work and school) it's a rare thing lately.

The dress fit like a glove and she looked amazing in it!

I sometimes have to pinch myself, it seems like yesterday she was just a little girl  (I know she will always be my little girl) but WOW where does the time go??  I have enjoyed dreaming about this day with her and hope to make it so very special! I love you sweet girl, and God could have not picked a more perfect person for you to spend your life with.

I look forward to preparing for your special day and making some great memories along the way! So proud to be your momma!!

These are not the shoes, but the right color! Of course they would be PINK!

Still deciding on the headpiece??

This picture brings tears to my eyes!!  I am in trouble aren't I?? (Crying)
I Love You!!!!!!

The Barn Show

Wow, that was a fun and exciting weekend! I met so many fun new people and even a couple new bloggers. It was so busy on Saturday morning and a little chilly..brrr! I had a great spot all cozied up in the corner of the barn so I missed the rain and wind that decided to make an appearance the night before.

I had a chance to take a few pics of my booth before the sale started but after the doors opened it got a little busy! I wish I had taken a few more but there was a professional photographer there snapping photos so when I get some other pics I will post them.

I did really well as a vendor this year and did not bring too many things home. Yeah!!! I have reserved my space for next year and look forward to meeting more new people and preparing for some new things. Thanks to Suzanne and Tracy for all your hard work! It really paid off and it showed!!

Put it on your calendar for next year, always the 2nd Saturday in November and plan a day with the girls!

Blessings!

Thrifting

We have had such beautiful days around here lately and I am loving it! Today I went out thrifting for a little while before I had to meet my daughter. I found a few really cute dresses to wear with some leggings and boots and a few other things that will be for sale this weekend at the Barn Chicks Sale! I hope your coming if your in the area.

My oldest son and his team will be competing in a state competition for Cross Country on Saturday. Their team placed first at the regional meet and we are thrilled that they are advancing to state. I pray for them to stay healthy and upright, to finish the race and know that God already knows the outcome. They have worked so hard to get to this point and I am super proud of their accomplishment!!

I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is only two weeks away...I feel like I am running behind this year on everything. Is anyone else feeling this way?? We did get a chance to take some Christmas pictures last weekend but they just did not turn out good. We are planning on trying again over the Thanksgiving break! Ugh..you would think this would get easier but NO!

Regionals..First place as a team!

This is a coat dress from the Limited. Looks brand new and thinking some tights and flats or boots would be cute!

This is from Target brand new! Leggings and boots and a shirt underneath for the winter??

I love this cute plate! Look at the fleur de lis design on the corners!! For sale at the Barn Chicks sale!

Cute hand towels for Christmas! Browns, creams and blues...yum!

I love this idea from The Inspired Room. A chalkboard and an old frame!

I will be packing up and setting up for the next few days and getting ready for a exciting send off at the High School this week. I pray that your weekend is filled with fun and sun and doing things with those you love! I'll be back with pics next week!

Truth

You Wanna Know The Truth...You Can't Handle The Truth!! (remember that movie)

Truth is..I always want the truth! Don't you??  In my marriage, in my friendships, in my children, and in my church! Why do we struggle with the truth so much? Because we might hurt someone's feelings, because the truth is not as glamorous, because we like living in the darkness?? Hmmm....Sometimes the truth means leaving your comfort zone and standing up for what is right instead of what is popular. At times that can be rewarding, other times it can be lonely. Have you ever felt like this?? I have on many occasion.

It's so much easier to not confront, to not pursue or simply to not care. The hard part is facing the truth and at times confronting our own shortcomings. Ughh..That's hard to swallow.(gulp)

I have learned that confronting the TRUTH and my own flaws are the times that I have grown the most. For it is in these moments when God reveals the areas of my life that I need to work on and it also pushes me to seek HIS will for my life a lot harder. It helps me to dig out the truth in His word and not just take someone else's word for something. Shouldn't we all be doing that? Seeking truth for ourselves, for our children, for our church!

John 5:24 says "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned: he has crossed over from death to life".
John 5:25 "I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live".
John 6:53 "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

Wow!! My God tells the truth!! Do I want the truth?....You Bet!! Can I Handle the Truth?..Absolutely!! Is it hard?...sometimes.

Truth is..My God is Truth and I want to follow Him!

The days have been so beautiful here and I can feel winter (Texas winter) in the air! I love it and look forward to the holiday season with family and friends as we anticipate the celebration of Christ's birth!

Have a beautiful day!! (Extra points if you can count how many times I said Truth)
