You Say Tomato/ I Say To-Mato

We had a beautiful rain shower here a couple nights ago and it was ma-velous!! My grass needed it so bad and the last of my tomatoes enjoyed it also
I never thought I would say this but I am tired of looking at TOMATOES!
We planted about five small plants and added some manure..yes I said manure to our beds this year and HOLY COW these babies took off!

So what's a girl to do with all these tomatoes??
Make some salsa girls!!
I can eat this till I'm red in the face with a glass of sweet tea..YUMMO!

Here's what it's in the good stuff (sorry I don't use a recipe)

Tomatoes ( a lot)
1 white onion
Cilantro ( I love this so I add alot)
1 Jalepeno
Lemon Juice
Salt and Pepper
Garlic Salt

Slice and dice till your hearts content or you can even put it in the blender for a finer salsa!
Add this too steak, chicken, enchiladas, spanish rice or my favorite right out of the bowl with a big bag of Tostitos or Santitas Corn Chips and a glass of sweet tea!

Welcome Summertime!!
Anybody need tomatoes??

Have a blessed day!!

A Childs Armoire

I'm back!!
Sorry I have been missing in action lately..I have several projects going then work calls and I must drop everything and shift my focus!

I have been working on this childs armoire for several months now and I have finally made some head way...can I get an Amen!  The heat is terrible, so I have been working in the evenings in the garage but it's still so darn hot!!

I am obviously not finished yet but wanted to show you where she started and where she is at now..

Let's look at her before

She was a mix of green/tan/white with old paint peeling off
It took me awhile to get her sanded down..ugh

The inside was just as bad! I think at some points mice lived in here..yuck! Ask me how I know??
The door front is some particle board that was cracked and I removed it to reveal a solid piece in between
It still has a crack so I am going to get a thin board cut at Home Depot to put over the front and inside.
Paint in chalkboard paint and it will look great in a childs room or kitchen!

Here is as far as I have gotten

Three coats of paint later
One coat of stain
Two coats of wax
Some sanding
Whew...she's getting closer...

I am still trying to decide on knobs..hmmm
The drawer at the top can either be a dummy drawer or I can replace it with a cute basket, what do you think??

I will show you her after pics as soon as she is finished..hopefully soon!!
Back to work tomorrow and I am also working on painting a bed..did I mention it's hot here??
Have a wonderful Tuesday peeps!!

Old Shelf..New Life

Happy Friday girls!!
I hope you have all enjoyed your first week of summer vacation..we have!!
I could get used to this sleeping in and drinking coffee till ten o'clock every morning..ah the simple pleasures of summer!

Several months back when my sister in law was visiting we made a stop at one of our favorite little antique shops and I spotted this chippy architectural shelf. I had no idea where I was going to put it but knew when inspiration hit I would find a home for it.

I love all the paint that is chipping off
Do you think their is lead in that paint?? Hmmm...

I though some hooks would look really cute to hang a hat or a moss letter on.
I hit up the trusty old Walmart for some ORB or black hooks but to no avail..I made a stop at a
junk/salvage place on my way home and that's when I spotted these..

Yes!! Old clothesline hooks. At only $1.00 each compared to $3.00 for a new one I was even more thrilled!
A little hammering and twisting later I was a happy girl with my new shelf

I made the moss "B" in a previous post
The numbers I found at a thrift store for 25 cents for a pkg of 5
The plate(s) came in a pack of 4 from Pottery Barn for $4.97 (steal)
The little Bible came from the same shop I got the shelf at
The little white pitcher was found at thrift store for 99 cents

I'm glad I didn't pass the shelf up because I didn't know what to do with it..you never know when inspiration is gonna hit!!
Have a beautiful weekend!!

I love hearing from you and read every comment!
Blessings

Plant Markers

Wow, it's a hot one here in Texas!!
Summer has officially begun in our home and not one of my kids is around..(crickets chirping)
My daughter is still in nursing school (no break for her)
Oldest son left for camp yesterday to lifeguard for the summer and youngest is staying with his grandparents for a few days
It's super quiet around these parts..
So what's a girl to do when she has nothing but time on her hands...well create something of course!

I have had these small picture frames sitting in a drawer knowing some day I would find something to do with them..

I had some wooden plant markers and attached to the back with the trusty E6000 glue

Next I spray painted using Krylon's Pink Ballet Slipper and Blue Ocean Breeze

While these were drying, I painted the frame inserts with the trusty old Chalkboard Paint

Waited for it all to dry (not long) and reassembled with some pretty ribbon for a little extra fun!
Who doesn't like a little extra fun!!
It's summer!!!

Wouldn't these be fun in a pot of sand at a picnic or a party!!
Hope you are all enjoying your summer
No go forth and create!!

I'll be partying over at DIY Design!!
