Drawer Fronts

It's almost Friday!! Can I get an amen!
I look forward to slowing down the pace a little as the weekend approaches.

One of my favorite things to do when junking is to look for things that don't have any real purpose. Something discarded that someone else might pass up. Its part of the challenge to find a new use for something destined for the trash.

On a recent trip out and about I found this beautiful drawer front and knew it still had some life left in it. I loved the color of the wood and the gold worn patina.
I brought it home and hung it on the wall but it needed a little extra something...

I found a jar with a handle and tied it with some ribbon to one of the drawer pulls and added some hydrangeas.
I love the way it looks on the wall and the colors are perfect for the fall season!

Do you look for things to use in different ways??
I love a good challenge!!

Enjoy your weekend!!
We had a cool front blow in and it sure feels more like fall!

Side Table Transformation

I am getting so excited for the upcoming Barn Sale!
I have been painting and glueing and living in grungy clothes for days it seems like.
I love every minute of it and can't wait to see so many familiar faces and meet some new ones. I hope you get a chance to make it out!

While going through my craft drawer digging for ribbon and knobs I found a sample pot of the ASCP they sent me with my order. The color is Country Grey and I started thinking what can I paint with this??
Then it hit me, a side table that had been waiting on a little lovin'. Don't you love this paint?
A little goes a long way. I dilluted mine with a little water and I got two tables painted..WOW!

Here is what she looked like before...

And here she is after....

I left the top its original color and just dry brushed the rest and finished with wax

I love how pretty and french she looks sitting in this corner.
I had enough to do another taller table for the other end and for no money I have a whole new look for the room!
Gotta love free!

We get so much sun coming in these windows during the day. I am trying to decide on curtains and have since hung the bamboo shades in all three windows. I love the texture they add to the room!

Have you transformed anything lately? Its amazing what a little paint will do for something!

Have a beautiful day!!

Baskets

Good Morning Girls!
It's Friday..yeah! That means thrifting and enjoying some time with the family.

While out thrifting a few weeks back I came upon this basket for $1.00 and thought it looked like a wine basket..??

I don't know what it is but I am always drawn to baskets
Maybe its because they are so versatile and I love the texture they add to a room

I had a couple of bottles in my pantry that I had picked up at the PB outlet last year when out shopping with the sis in law

Odds were they may not fit but for $1.00 it was worth the try..

I gathered some other materials...

and as it turns out they fit perfectly!!
I decided against the ribbon because I liked the natural french look

I love it when things work out like that!

Do you have a love for baskets?? What do you use yours for?
I hope you have a wonderful weekend

I am off to thrift again!!!

Denying Yourself

I hope you are all having a beautiful week!!

I wanted to share something my pastor read to us a few weeks back that really stuck with me. I respect the fact that he so boldly proclaims Gods word! So many people requested a copy of this that they made it available to us all. I would like to frame it and put it in my home as a reminder of what it means to really "Deny Yourself" as Jesus said.

When you are not forgiven,
or neglected,
or purposely set at naught,
and you sting and hurt
with the insult and the oversight,
but your heart is happy
because you count it worthy to suffer for Christ:
that is self denial.
When your good is evil spoken of,
when your wishes are crossed,
your advice is disregarded,
your opinions are ridiculed,
you refuse to let anger rise in your heart
or even defend yourself,
you take it all in patient, loving silence:
that is dying to self.
When you lovingly and patiently bear any disorder,
any irregularity,
or any annoyance,
when you can stand face to face with waste
and folly
and extravagance
and spiritual insensitivity,
and endure it as Jesus endured it:
that is dying to self.
When your content with any food,
any offering,
any clothes,
any climate,
any society,
any solitude,
any interruption by the will of God:
that is dying to self.
When you can never care to refer to yourself in conversation,
or to record your own good works,
or itch after commendation,
when you can love to be unknown:
that is dying to self.
When you see your brother prosper
and have his needs met,
and honestly rejoice with him in spirit
and feel no envy,
nor question God,
while your own needs are far greater and unmet:
that is dying to self.
When you can receive correction and reproof
from one less stature than yourself,
and humbly submit
inwardly as well as outwardly,
finding no rebellion or resentment rising in your heart:
that is dying to self.

Dying to self is something we must do daily so that HE can be exalted!
Words to live by!
Have a blessed Tuesday!

Getting Ready

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!
I have been up since the crack of dawn getting my boy out the door for a cross country meet. I hit a few yard sales then headed home to start prepping for the upcoming Barn Sale.
If your in the area I hope you can make it..November 5 at the JB Wells Show Barns in Gonzales Tx

I wanted to give you a peek at some of the things I have been working on...

I found these old tricycle tires at an estate sale
I bought two but here is what they looked like before I started working on them

Here is what they looked like after I finished

I turned these plain jars into fun candy jars

I have painted, tied bows, and created more today than I have in awhile and I am worn out! But I have to tell ya..getting all this Christmas stuff together for the sale sure makes me ready to decorate for the CHRISTmas season.
It will be here soon enough right girls?!

Next post I want to show you a couple of tables I painted that were gonna go with me to the sale but instead I changed a few things around and they found a new home right here in my home.
Do you ever do this? Intend on selling something and then realize you can't let it go because it matches your decor..ugh.
No worries, I have plenty to take with me!

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday praising our LORD!
Blessings

Going for It

Happy Tuesday!
The weather here in Texas is changing and boy does it feel good
Fall is in the air!

It has always been a desire of mine to own a small shop full of beautiful goodies for your home.  I have never really pursued doing anything with my desire until a friend asked if I would like to have a small booth in her new shop she was opening.
I was hesitant at first..thinking.. what if I don't sell anything, what if people think I can't do it, what if, what if....yes, I tend to do that to myself
Well long story short..I decided to take the plunge and give it a shot
No, it's not my shop but its a small start to fulfilling my little desire for a creative outlet
God knows the desires of my heart and His Word says that if we pray and ask He will give us the desires of our hearts if it is His will for us

I have enjoyed meeting new people and playing in my little closet (its a small space) and look forward to this new adventure with excitement!

A little orange feather wreath for some fall color!

These next few are not my space but others in the shop...

So what are the desires of your heart? Do you have a passion for something and need a little nudge to get started..I say GO FOR IT!!

Have a beautiful day!

A Whirlwind Week

Whew!! My goodness it was a whilrwind week. My sis in law was here and we shopped till we dropped and then shopped some more. I think we covered the PB outlet, TJ Maxx and our favorite antique store at least twice this week. I ate out more times than I would like to admit and laughed and cried more than I have in awhile. She headed back to Tennessee yesterday morning and now I have so much to get caught up on!

We had a couple birthday celebrations this week(end). My brother in law and my youngest celebrated another year!
We had a great laugh at a local restaurant when the waiters brought out sombrero's for the guys to wear and of course I had to snap a picture.

Ohh good times!!

I had a birthday celebration for my son at the house with family and friends. His newest love is golf and so his sister and I put together some cupcakes to celebrate his special day.

I started with some skewers (I had them) cut down to make the poles for the flags.

Then I made some flags using yellow construction paper and glued them to the sticks.

Made some chocolate cupcakes, iced with green icing (tinted) added some darker green sprinkles for the rough, and a small chocolate ball for the golf ball and voila!!

He loved them!!
The best part was spending some time in the kitchen with my girl!!

Gosh, I look so white (note to self, a little lipstick next time)
It was a wonderful week! Don't you love my girls apron?? We found it at our favorite little cottage antique store and I can't wait to show you some pics of her darling store. She is a fellow blogger and I want to help get her name out there..more to come...

Happy Birthday to my sweet boy who turns 14 today! My time flies doesn't it?!

I hope you have a wonderful Monday!
Can't wait to share a pic of something I have been wanting to do for a long time and I finally took the plunge...
Thanks for stopping in, you all mean so much to me!
