Napkin Pillows

I'm sorry I have been lacking in posts and ideas lately..I have had my share of busyness around here wrapping up the school year, wedding stuff, and work, work, work!!
We have had no bites or lookers on our home yet but know that God will sell it in his time..not mine.
No worries..

This morning I hung some beautiful curtains for a client and then came home and was inspired to make something fun! Don't you have to be in the mood for this stuff?? Please say I'm not alone on this...
Anywho..I pulled out some old pillows and napkins that had not sold in my last sale and went to town sewing.

I love working with napkins, they are so easy to convert into pillows

Place right sides together and sew three sides leaving the fourth side open for stuffing in the pillow

My pillow was an odd size so instead of cutting off the excess fabric I sewed it and folded it over the front
I made a small stitch on each corner to hold down the cuff and tied a bow for a little fun!

I love it!! These napkins were found at Goodwill awhile back and now I am sooo glad I didn't get rid of them!

Aren't they sweet??

Of course, as fast as I change my mind they just may turn up in my November sale..

Have you made napkins pillows? I would love to know..Talk to me..
Have a beautiful day!

Dry Erase and Memory Board

I hope you have all had a wonderful week. It has flown by here and I can't believe school will be over in a week! I can't wait! My older two are always gone during the summer with camps and school but my youngest is still home. It will be so nice to make our own schedule and not have to be anywhere everyday.

I love the summer!

I haven't had a lot of time lately to do many projects. With the house on the market and work picking up for me again, my days have been pretty full.

I had a couple things left that I made for a recent show and wanted to share them with you.

The first is a dry erase board.
I started by using a frame I already had and covered the existing board with burlap
I then put it back together and used some pretty vinyl letters to add a "TO DO" list
It's now ready for your grocery list, errands, etc..
You can use a dry erase marker or a chalk pen to write and erase!

Wouldn't this look pretty in a kitchen or mudroom?

Another old frame I turned into a note board or picture holder
I started at the top of the frame (on the back) and used a staple gun to attach jute
I made a zig zag pattern going from one side to the other until I reached the bottom
That's it..hang pictures and enjoy!

Both of these items are for sale so if you are interested please leave me a comment and I will get back with you.

Hope you have a wonderful Memorial weekend!

Birthday Weeks

I love birthdays..don't you?? I'm just glad I still get to have them!
Hubby always jokes that mine lasts for a week every year..Ha! One day just isn't enough to celebrate!

A sweet friend of mine put together a little lunch for me in one of my very favorite places ever..
Gruene Tx!
We shopped a little, had lunch at the GristMill (yummy) and shopped a little more..one can never do too much of that!

One of my favorite little places to visit is a little shop called Rusty Bugs and Roosters. She has such fun little things at reasonable prices but you have to act quick because her things disappear fast!

That phrase on the wall just cracks me up..Ha!

Another favorite shop of mine is Lonestar Goods..it always smells sooo good in here.
I had to buy a candle here in hopes it would make my house smell just as yummy!

So stinkin cute!

I love her!

Great friends and great conversation. The food was yummy and may or may not have included a LARGE platter of greasy onion rings and a strawberry shortcake with ice cream..no calories on birthdays!

I love these girls from the bottom of my heart and appreciate them helping to make my day extra special!

Hubby is having family over and cooking for me on Sunday..Love him!
Who says you shouldn't have a birthday week..It only rolls around once a year, why not stretch it out?
Love ya girlies!

Days to Remember

It seems like yesterday I was holding this little boy and chasing him around everywhere! He was such a strong willed child never letting me hold his hand, hiding from me in the store (not a good story), and crying, crying, crying. There were days I would cry right along with him..ugh!

Those days are long gone and have been replaced with a gentle spirit, a loving kiss before he leaves me (even in front of friends) and a happy and fun personality. I know I have said this many times before but I can't believe where the time goes. In one year I will be watching him walk across the stage and move on into the next chapter of his life. I could not be any prouder of the young man he has become!!

I hope you have a wonderful time tonight my sweet boy, I pray you remember these days as happy ones and look forward to what the future holds for you!

I love you with my whole heart!!

Have a beautiful Sunday my friends!

Dressing up a Lamp Shade

I saw these cute little fabric flowers over at jones design company (go check out her blog) and thought I would make some of my own to dress up some boring lampshades.

Start with some fabric and your template (which you can find on her website)
You could make your own..I'm not very good at that..

Cut out 4 of the larger petals and 3 of the smaller petals
Gather them in the middle by sewing a stitch through them by hand
I used a needle, ran a stitch through the middle and wrapped the thread around 1 time..easy!

Layer them from all large to all small (sorry no picture)
I had buttons so I sewed a button on in the center
You can make one stitch through and hot glue a brooch or pearl on for more bling!

I used a linen fabric and some natural buttons I had already..total cost..nadda!!

I found this grapevine birdcage and added a flower to it..it will be for sale in my upcoming home show!

I hope your day is beautiful and you are inspired!!
Go check out jones design company.blogspot.com..great ideas!

It's Official

Sorry I have been slow on posts here lately..I have been a little preoccupied! Hubby and I have been praying and talking and we have decided that with the Lords blessing we will be putting our home on the market tomorrow!!!
We have decided to downsize since our oldest is getting married, our middle is heading to college next year and it will just be the youngest home with us. It's a good move and a great time to do it (I think..remember I am planning a wedding?!!)
I'm sure it will be crazy busy around here but I am up for it. Not to mention we will be saving a lot of money!
God wants us to be good stewards of our finances and with his blessing we will be doing just that.

I am super excited because you know what that means....new spaces to decorate!! Woo Hoo!

I am looking forward to sharing our new adventure with you..the good, the bad and hopefully not the ugly!
Did I mention I am planning a wedding??
Am I crazy...wait, don't answer that!!

Have a beautiful Tuesday!

I'm Back

Well, I guess I didn't give a disclaimer that I would be gone did I??
My sister in law was here for two weeks helping out her mom after knee surgery and we have had so much
fun spending some time together.
We literally closed down the stores last night and grabbed something yummy to eat before heading home.
It was such a late night but soooo totally worth it! I love her and miss her so much when she goes home.
She spoils me ya'll!
She treated me to a pedicure, a couple of meals and too many goodies to count!
Do you know what I love most about her...she's my biggest fan! In Life!
She is my encourager, my confidant, she believes in me, she is honest, and she talks way more than me..never a quiet moment!
I told hubby last night he was lucky because I had used all my words up for the day and I just wanted to go to sleep..Ha!
Good Times!

On my last trip to Tennessee we spent a day in Georgia and found this darling little place and bought several cute things to decorate her guest house. (Remember that post) she surprised me and bought me this bench and promised on their next trip here it was coming..It finally made it and I am loving it in it's new home!

Here are a couple of finds...

I love this basket, it's huge..$4.98..don't hate!
She bought all that burlap and fabric for me for projects.

These were a steal at Restoration Hardware. I would have bought it for the box alone.
Inside their were garden tools, plant markers, seed packets and a burlap bag...swoon..

Small glass cloche..so cute!

A chunkier lamp for the buffet..she is heavy!

I came home with many treasures and some I will be selling in my show that will be happening in two weeks..Yikes, I need to get busy! If you are local and would like to come, drop me a comment and I will send you an invite.
Have a blessed day!
