Hey friends!
Its been way to long since I stopped in to post anything. Life has a way of doing that to us I guess. We are eagerly awaiting the birth of our first grandchild any day now and would appreciate your prayers for an easy delivery. We are beyond excited, to say the least!
About a month ago I mentioned that I wanted to take the plunge and paint my cabinets white. Well, I did just that and WOW I love the difference it makes in my kitchen! It took me two days to get the uppers and the cabinets around the refrigerator. I used ASCP in Old White and yes, I waxed them all.
After finishing I decided to take a break for a few days and recover. So here is the dilemma...After living with them for about a month I can't decide if I should leave the bottoms "as is" or go ahead and paint them all white?? I am hoping you all can help me decide. I have asked family of course and its mostly split 50/50 so what do you think??
I do love the white! Its so much brighter and gives the kitchen more of a farmhouse feel.
Let me know what you think..
Have a wonderful weekend!

Miss Tiffani, your kitchen looks beautiful! (as always!)
ReplyDeleteHope you had a good easter!
♥Rachel
I would leave as is. I do love an all white kitchen but I think the wood on the bottom of the back ones makes it look very European! Great job. Di
ReplyDeleteI think it looks Beautiful with the white and more so after seeing the picture's. I say paint the bottom
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful! I love the look of two toned cabinets, but with all the grain in the wood, I think the bottom ones should be painted. You could always do a grayish/khaki in a medium tone on the bottom if you want some variation.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
I kinda like the two-tone, but it would look great painted too. That's a tough one. Go with your gut!
ReplyDeleteI say give it some paint! What a totally different look in your kitchen! No matter what you do, it always looks fabulous. So don't sweat it!
ReplyDeleteI vote white. I too love the airy clean feel white gives. Ou did an awesome job!
ReplyDeleteThe white looks lovely and is complimented by the color of the granite and backsplash. Paint 'em!
ReplyDeletePaint them. They look beautiful painted. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteyour kitchen looks fabulous, and I'm surprised at myself, but I think the bottom cabinets look so great in the stain. I know the white would look wonderful too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a BEAUTIFUL kitchen! I am in love with the white and dark wood together, you did such a perfect job with the painting! I am in awe! Thank you so so so much for sharing at the Inspiration Gallery, you have most defiantly inspired me!!!

Oh gosh I just love the cabinets and I love your bread box on top. It's so vintage. The whole kitchen is beautiful! Not sure about the cabinets, that is tough one. I can see it both ways and it look great... good luck with your decision.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to stop in from Inspiration Gallery to say hello!

Your kitchen is gorgeous and the cabinets look fabulous. I like the white and how it makes your granite counter tops stand out. I'd definitely paint the bottoms white, too!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Courtney's!
XO,
Jane
You have a beautiful kitchen, especially with the white cabinets. It's a hard call about painting the bottoms.
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Oh I really love your kitchen. It's so charming! I think the white color you chose is perfect! I do like how the bottoms look, however, I think I would go ahead and paint them to match the uppers. I think it would let your counter tops stand out more and further lighten your kitchen up. But, even if you didn't paint the lower cabs, your kitchen still looks great!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is beautiful. I am in awe right now. I have no idea what to tell you, either way you decide it will be perfect. Thank you for inspiring me today. Now what to do with my kitchen?
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is SO original. Everybody paints their cabinets white. ALL their cabinets. I like the mix of the paint and the wood. It looks fantastic. Take the road less traveled. Leave them like they are. You'll stand out on the "blog block" and... if it ain't broke don't fix it. They look gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen looks amazing!! Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the painted upper cabinets. They turned out beautiful! It looks wonderful now, but I think painting the bottom ones would only make it that much nicer.

leave the bottom as is. so much more personality :)
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the look you are going for -- clean and modern farmhouse or homey farmhouse? I like the bottom as is. It gives the kitchen added warmth, texture, and elegance. It doesn't look like everyone else's kitchen and is striking. I say live with it a while longer. It can always be painted later.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is beautiful. Love the white upper cabinets...I say paint the bottom ones too.
ReplyDeleteMeri
P.S. Not really anonymous...just don't have a blog.
Your kitchen is gorgeous, I love the white I say paint the bottom it will give it a more of a finished look. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYour cabinets look outstanding!!! I would paint the bottom ones (I'm just not a two tone gal when it comes to cabinets). Thank you for sharing at my party.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda
I LOVE the mix of the white tops and the stained bottoms... your kitchen looks FABULOUS!!
ReplyDeleteWow. It looks fabulous as is, and the stained base cabinets will show less wear and tear. That may come in handy with a new grandbaby hanging around!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous kitchen! I'm in love ;) You should link this up to our party, Give Me The Goods Monday! {1 party, 5 blogs}

You've done it again! WOW! Just beautiful....sigh! I think you should go with your gut! I personally like the dark on the bottom, it looks very European that way ( probably thinking about all the hard work it took you!) but how could you go wrong with that paint? Seriously, it is beautiful! Is there a tutorial coming about how you did this? Ana
ReplyDeleteI love the new white upper cupboards and do like them mixed with the darker lower- but they would look beautiful either way. Thanks for sharing at Feathered Nest Friday!
ReplyDeletei like the gray idea looks like your b-splash has gray in it your Kitchen looks lovely
ReplyDeleteSome gorgeous kitchen Tiffani! Your cabinets are great and so is the granite color, perfect for it overall! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteFABBY
I did Old White on my upper and lower cabinets and then Graphite on the island. For myself, I think it grounds it and gives it the look of being a separate piece of furniture. That said, your kitchen looks amazing the way it is and the dark wood grounds things, so you may not need to do more work and that is a plus! Blessings, Patti
ReplyDeleteI love love LOVE your cabinets! I especially love the two-toned look, from an aesthetic as well as from a practical stand point. Having lived with all cream-colored cabinets for seven years, I find myself wishing that the bottoms at least were a darker color that would "hide" things better! ;) (I have three kiddos five and under!) We'll be moving soon to an house that has all wood cabinets, and I plan to at least paint the upper ones-- but I'm really considering just letting the lower ones stay wood-toned, especially after seeing how lovely yours look!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is beautiful! I love the cabinets white but I would leave the bottom ones as is. I like the contrast between the two.
ReplyDeletexx,
Sherry
The first thing I noticed was the contrast of the wood and white. I LOVE that. It adds character. That's my 2 cents.
ReplyDeleteIt looks grounded and interesting the way it is and I like the contrast.
ReplyDeleteIf one was going to paint the lowers it would be best if the granite picks up the shade of white, and I can't tell from the photo if it does. But if you really want to paint, I would pick a paint that is darker and in the granite.
Your kitchen is gorgeous! Looks like the comments are split too lol. I love the look currently and the richness of the stain with the white uppers. Could it be that it looks more like a custom kitchen instead of like my mass produced one, maybe? Either way it will be lovely.
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't already made up your mind, I would say go ahead and paint them all white. What you've already done looks FABULOUS, so why not finish the job.

ReplyDeleteI love the white cabinets. They make the upper part of the kitchen pop. The lower cabinets fade away. Paint the lower cabinets white and make the whole kitchen stand out. Also, love love love your displays!

The top is so gorgeous, I'd paint them all!!! They really brighten up your kitchen, make it look so up-to-date - great job on the upper cabinets! Mary
ReplyDeleteLove the old white on the upper cabinets. Painting them really give your kitchen brightness and light. I would leaved the lower cabinets the color they are. They ground the whole kitchen and give it a look of solidness. Everyone has had painted cabinets forever, but the two tones give your kitchen that high-end look we all crave.

ReplyDeleteI will be facing a similar dilemma when we move into our little cottage, built in 1909. The previous owners did a marvelous job updating the kitchen with fabulous appliances, fixtures and granite similar to yours in color. I feel blessed to have found a home having all the hard work done to update it. I do want to paint the cabinets white but after seeing you leave the bottoms the natural wood tones, I think its a great way to add interest and keep the connection with the brown granite. Especially since the walls are light color tying in the white cabinets. How's that for an opinion??!! LOL Congratulations on being a featured post... it's well deserved!!
ReplyDeletePopping over from The Dedicated House to see this beautiful kitchen update! Oh my goodness, what a lovely space. I'm sure it's been long decided, but I do like the mix of white uppers and natural lower cabinets. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteJeanette @ Creating a Life
I have the EXACT same cabinets and countertops and am in the process of painting the uppers. I like the two different colors. Keep it as is!
