Lamps and Tarts

It's almost Friday girls..yippee!
I hope to be working on a project this weekend that is a long time overdue. Can't wait to show you as soon as I have it completed.

I first want to say that I went to the grocery store tonight (for groceries) and picked up these yummy pecan tarts in the bakery. OH MY..

Seriously, someone stop me!!
I have eaten three from this box already and I may have had some as a side at dinner.
Yummo!
It's not a good idea to go to the store hungry.

Sooooo..

I had these two small lamps in the garage and wasn't fond of their red shades and gold base.
Yes, I always take pictures in the dark in the garage..you?

I removed the fabric from the shade leaving only the metal frame to play with, painted these babies with some Heirloom white, added some burlap...

Not sure about the burlap yet..could be a fire hazard

And some tulle..

 So feminine and girly.

I need a little extra light in my booth and I think these will work perfect and won't take up too much space.
I love reusing things when I can, don't you?
Aahhh..the power of paint

I hope you all have a great weekend. I have a birthday to celebrate, project to work on and a little shopping to do. Thanks for stopping in, I really appreciate all the sweet comments you left this past week. You all sure know how to make a girl feel good.
I won two awards this week too..
The Liebster Award and the Blog on Fire Award!

Trust

Hope you had a beautiful Monday!
It was a sunny one here but a bit on the cool side for me.

Sasha over at LemonadeMakinMama had asked if we had a word that would best describe the year ahead. I thought about it for about a second and decided "No" was my word.  Wow, that sounded harsh didn't it!
Do you ever feel like you say "yes" to too many things and you never get ahead but instead just go in circles? No.. I'm the only one..ok. Moving on then.

I don't plan on saying "NO" to everything that comes along but I do need to slow down and make time for the things that are truly important to me.
I need to spend more time with the Lord everyday..
More time with family
Enjoying my kids and hubby more
Finish wedding plans
Important things like that.

Another area I really struggle with is Trust!
I'm feeling a little weird sharing that right now but its true.
I need to learn to trust more.

I struggle with this in friendships, relationships and even sometimes with the Lord (ouch).
So as a reminder I made a small frame to put on the mantel where I can see it everyday to remind me to
TRUST, both in HIM and in others.

I found a small frame at GW and used an old book page I had and placed in the glass

Added some stickers (Hobby Lobby)

A bow

Some bling..oh yeah!

Place where you can see it daily!

What about you? Do you have a special word (or two) that you would like to sum up your 2012?
Would you share it with me?
Thank you so much to all of my new followers! I am thrilled your here and look forward to hearing from you.

Around the House

Woohoo!
Happy New Year peeps!
2011 was a year for change in our home.
Looking forward to 2012 with much anticipation.

After getting all the Christmas goodies put away and vacuuming up the green things that fall from the tree all over the floor and down the hall (how do they get there?), I moved a few things around.
Doesn't it feel good to get all the stuff put away, clean and simplify again!
I know I'm not the only one here?

The PB plates paired with some Goodwill plates and white napkins (Goodwill) are some of my favorite

A glass jar filled with old vintage silverware make a great centerpiece

Vintage suitcases, old silver and books..swoon!

Vintage locker baskets painted white and numbers added with plain shower
curtain rings

Table was a thrift find and antiqued
Funny how my cheap pieces are some of my favorite pieces

I love these french inspired chairs, a splurge when we moved into this house

Have I shown you my kitchen?
I haven't? Welcome to the kitchen!!
My favorite room in this house!

A little green and silver...

I added some bookshelves to each side of our fireplace and it added a ton of warmth to the room.

I know I have just given you picture overload here...if you are still with me, thanks for sticking around!
Hope you enjoyed seeing some pictures around my home.
I have sooo many projects waiting to be finished this year and I look forward to sharing them with you.

Have you been cleaning, reorganizing, moving things around?
It feels great to start a New Year!!

Did you notice my header is different? Thank you to my future son in law who spent some time changing it for me. Love ya C!
